God is calling you

If you abide in my word … you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
— John 8:12

The Word of God became Man and walked among us. He was the light shining in the darkness, but the darkness did not know Him. Whoever comes to the light leaves the darkness, and has the light of life.

Whoever has heard the call of Jesus has a choice. To hear. To believe. To obey. It is not human tradition, nor the custom of a lifetime, that we are called to obey; it is the Word of God.

We hear His words in scripture, and the Spirit brings this Word into our lives. Jesus lives with those who follow Him, wherever that truth may lead.

Through scripture, the Spirit speaks to us. Through scripture, we learn of the Creator. Through scripture, we learn of Him Who Redeemed us. Through scripture, we learn of God’s will for our life. Through scripture, the Spirit makes us aware of the life-changing power of God.

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me ...
— Psalm 143:10

Scripture is the only guide of faith and daily conduct. Scripture implores us to obey the Light of Life. And for those who willingly follow this Light, the Spirit leads us into Truth.

Every follower of Jesus has the responsibility to understand His will. The core of the Lord’s prayer is “your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). So when we understand His will, it is our joy to do His will.

Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works … encouraging one another all the more as you see the Day drawing near
— Hebrews 10:24, 25

While every follower of Jesus has the responsibility to understand and obey His will, we are not called to do so alone.

We are called to enter into community.

We are called to enter a community that is guided by scripture, is led by the Spirit, is encouraging and uplifting, and provides strength and support. Each follower of Jesus is called to enter His community of people who love and care for one another.

The Melbourne Seventh Day Baptist Church is one such community.

We are followers of Jesus who seek to do His will. We come together for fellowship, for prayer, for worship, for growth. We come together to encourage each other to grow in the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.

You too are called to enter into the community of faith.
